History and Vision

In a two fold effort to increase the quality of life for Santa Rosa County citizens, our County Commissioners have instituted the Santa Rosa County Corporate Honor Roll to encourage businesses of all sizes to participate in a youth focused mentor program.

Statistically, youth matched with a mentor complete higher education goals, are exposed to career options that may have been considered out of reach, are less likely to begin using illegal drugs, less likely to consume alcohol, less likely to skip school or engage in a fight.

In addition to making a positive difference in the lives of youth, research has demonstrated the benefits of mentoring to organizations and businesses that encourage their employees and members to volunteer. Employees who are encouraged to volunteer have a positive perception of the company, develop new interpersonal skills, experience higher morale renewed enthusiasm and ultimately become more productive.

Recognizing the direct benefit to youth and employees of mentor relationships, we support and encourage businesses in the community to provide active, engaged adults to mentor Santa Rosa County youth.

To recognize businesses in the community that are making an outstanding effort to make a difference in the life of a child, the Santa Rosa County Corporate Honor Roll was established.

It is our vision that 50% of all students in grades 4-8 participate in a mentor relationship with a caring adult.
